Hallie - SC

Miss Hallie is doing great! She enjoys playing with her "cousin" Isabel. The two of them play with their toys all day long. Hallie still enjoys chasing squirrels and loves to go on walks in the neighborhood. She loves riding in the car, especially when we go to the pet store to pick out new toys and treats. We went to the vet for our first check-up and she did great. She is the sweetest dog. I wake up every morning with a kiss from this sweet girl. I couldn't have asked for a better, more loving dog.
Thanks, Amanda

Hyde - RI

Audi is doing awesome! He turned 1 on St. Patrick's Day and now weighs about 35 lbs. He's such a sweet boy who loves to meet everyone. He' also the BIGGEST cuddler and always rests on me. He and our doxie Jetta absolutely adore each other, they nap on top of each other, lick each others faces/ears, and of course they wrestle all day long.
Audi's favorite thing to do is eat, steal our socks and play outside. He's a very good listener so he knows how to sit, stay, go down, be easy on walks, he loves his crate and he sleeps in it, no problems, every night. Everyone loves him and always asks us what kind of dog he is. He's made many doggy friends and we hope to make more this summer when we can spend time up at our family's cottage.
Thank you guys at FDR for giving us such a sweet boy to love, we are eternally grateful.
- Megan, Tony, Jetta and Audi

Harley

Harley's new mom and dad, Paula and Don, report that Harley is doing great! He is a little love bug and is always rolling over, hoping that he will get a belly rub. Harley and their other dachshund, Dolly, now are best buds.

Henry

Henry is happy with his new family in CT! Here is a note from his new mom: Henry is a bottomless pit! He wants to eat anytime I’m in the kitchen. That’s the doxie in him…. We’ve been trying to “guide” him up/down the ramp. If he sees one of the others, he follows that one but on his own, he seems confused. But, I think he’ll become accustomed – Charlie now prefers it unless there’s a squirrel that needs immediate removal from the premises…. Henry took right to my husband, Glen. When Charlie got a little territorial and growled at Henry, Glen comforted him and carried him in his arms for a while. Henry just loved it! And he comes and sits by the computer, or wherever we are. What a love he is! He did wander in the yard quite a bit with Solly, maybe trying to find a familiar scent but, of course, he couldn’t. He does drink quite a bit of water; hope that’s nothing like Cushing’s (my Sparkles had that at 14 until 16). Hope you find someone for the other little angel in Colchester (I hope he isn’t in a kennel cage there all night) – then John will give you doxie preference in the future. And yes, he seems a really nice person. Never met him but think he has a good heart. He called you quickly, yes? Oh, I gave your rescue name to someone on FB that said she was looking for a dachshund to adopt in SC. Henry is a sweetie – and we’re thankful to be here for him. And it seems he does have a bit of hearing – he had his back to me on the grass area and I was on the deck and made a tongue-clicking noise like I do for mine and he turned around! Maybe wishful thinking – but we’ll see what goodies the vet can do for and give him. He really does deserve a good home – and he’ll be very well taken care of and LOVED for the rest of his natural days. Sooooo glad to have met you, Laura – you’re doing wonderful work for helpless angels who just want a little happiness and comfort. Karma will reward you in many ways. Please keep in touch – maybe we can volunteer some kind of help == transport from somewhere in CT to RI border or such; or items for a tag sale, bake sale. I would love to do what you do but no longer can due to health issues – but we can help in other ways…. I did forget to ask you if he was on Frontline for fleas and ticks – that’s what I use. Nasty ticks in CT. Did they use something else on Henry?? Well, thanks for bringing us the bundle of love named Henry – he’s so mellow, just happy to BE. Reminds me of the Neil Diamond song “Be” from his CD “Jonathan Livingston Seagull” (Great book, also). Hope he feels he’s found his fur-ever home and is happy to be part of our family now. My little Sparkles had 6 homes in just over 5 years before she came to us and lived happily for 16+ years. Stay safe, Take good care!

Happy - RI

Happy went to his furever home in RI with Paul and Julie on April 18, 2011. Now this little boy can be truly HAPPY and learn what it is like to be loved and have a place to call home.
