Cricket 2 - RI

Here's our Cricket, right at home. Her former foster and now furever mom, JoAnne sends this happy update:
Cricket would need a special home because she had spinal surgery and most likely would need more care and attention than a "normal" dog.
I saw her picture and read her story and I could not say no. After a couple of conversations with my husband, we took Cricket.
Well, this angel didn't take long to "wiggle" her way into our hearts and after only two weeks, Micki (our first and the alpha of the pack) engaged Cricket in play; thereby accepting her into the pack. I was so excited. We all fell in love with this little girl that, thanks to Furever Dachshund Rescue, received the care she needed so that she could live her life. Regardless of her infirmities, she is such a happy girl. She makes us laugh everyday and gets so excited when "Daddy" gets home from work....you can't help but love her. Our other dogs took to her quickly as well....which made things so much easier. We knew we couldn't let her go anywhere. Her personality is one of happiness, trust, and love. We are so blessed to have Cricket and our other babies. Thank you FDR for giving us the opportunity to not only bring Cricket into our home, but to allow us to be her "furever" family. We know how important extended families are and we are inviting anyone who has fallen in love with this little girl along her path to visit. I feel blessed to be a foster mom and blessed to be a "furever" mom.

Maggie - SC

Update from our Fabre!
Looks like Ruby and Camille are enjoying their snuggle time!
We can't thank you enough for adopting sweet Ruby (Formerly Maggie) to our home.  She is a precious girl who everyone in our family has quickly fallen in love with.

Ruby spends her days lounging in her heated bed, along with her dog sister Camille (a dachshund mix).  The two of them have become fast friends and seem to enjoy the art of snuggling.  At night, Ruby curls up with her human sister Victoria to sleep the hours away (teenager + senior dachshund = perfect mix!).  She is enjoying taking walks around our neighborhood, meeting all the neighbors (and neighbor's dogs), and of course her favorite activities- eating and snuggling!

Our family cannot thank everyone who contributed to help save this special girl and treat her skin infection and dental issues.  I'm happy to say that each day she is healing more and more and her beautiful silky black and tan coat is coming back so nicely - even in the 3 weeks she has been here with us there has been a huge difference.   Since her adoption she needed another round of oral surgery to extract a few more teeth - but with careful brushing we should be able to keep all of the remaining ones that she has!
Thank you again for everything - Fabre

Bo - SC

We didn’t last long as a dog-free house. We missed our 14 year old golden retriever too darn much to come home to an empty house. This is Spenser. Spenser is a 7 month old long-haired Dachshund from South Carolina. He was rescue from a high-kill shelter. We have a family friend who is a dog lover and doxie foster in Clemson, SC for Furever Dachshund Rescue. She posted his picture (he was named Bo) and the “we need to get this dog” campaign began.
We drove the 13 hours from Buffalo to Clemson on a Saturday and returned on Sunday. We decided to rename him when I read that it’s a bad idea to name dogs Mo or Snow or Beau, because it’s too close to No and confuses them. I came up with Spenser after the Robert B Parker detective. One of my favorite character from one of my favorite authors. I had some selling to do on the name, but my entire potential name list was pronounced nerdy by my daughter and my husband was convinced that every name that I came up with after Spenser was an attempt to come up with something even worse so that he would agree to Spenser. He looks like a Spenser though, doesn’t he?
Spenser fit right into our home, quickly learning his name and some basic commands. He staked out the chair in the front window as his favorite spot, sunning himself and watching the world go by. Spenser loves walks, challenging toys and belly rubs. He has never met a dog he doesn't like and loves to play with furry friends of any size, especially some local doxie buddies and his cousin Lexi who lives at the lake.
Spenser is quite a character and makes us laugh every day. He even has his own twitter account and you can follow him @spenserthedog.

Hallie - SC

Miss Hallie is doing great! She enjoys playing with her "cousin" Isabel. The two of them play with their toys all day long. Hallie still enjoys chasing squirrels and loves to go on walks in the neighborhood. She loves riding in the car, especially when we go to the pet store to pick out new toys and treats. We went to the vet for our first check-up and she did great. She is the sweetest dog. I wake up every morning with a kiss from this sweet girl. I couldn't have asked for a better, more loving dog.
Thanks, Amanda

Peanut 3 - IL

‘Peanut’ is now Herman Bennett III, and happily residing lakeside in Belgrade Lakes, Maine. He is doing great! He has run of the house and has already found his favorite spot on the couch, etc. My Dad absolutely loves him and it seems to be very mutual. I've attached a photo of the two and of our camp sign where we honor our Herman's from the past. We can not thank Furever Dachshund enough. The Seniors for Seniors program is a wonderful program for both parties, and we couldn't have been happier to adopt Herman. He is a loving and fun companion for my Dad and we think they’re both the best!
Warm Regards,
Anne-Marie
(on behalf of my Dad, Rusty)
