Volunteering With FDR

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Furever Dachshund Rescue! FDR is run completely by volunteers. These volunteers are located all across the United States.

We all have at least one thing in common: We love dachshunds and we want to stop the terrible things that happen to them. We are dedicated to helping as many as we can because each one is special and unique.

If you have this one thing in common with us, then we want and need your help. Below are many ways in which you can help no matter how big or small. Our goal is to form a network of dachshund-lovers and together we will make a difference!

How Can I Help?

• Adoption Invite a needy dachshund to be part of your family and allow FDR to have more room to help another
• Membership Become a Furever Friend! (If you would like to foster, please visit our Foster Page instead)
• Seniors Loving Seniors Program
• Foster Love and rehabilitate a dachshund in your home until a furever home is found
• Transport Help dachshunds on their journey to safety
• Donations Money to help with medical expenses, supplies, shelter pull fees, etc.
•  Sponsorship If you can't foster a dachshund in your home, please consider financilly fostering and receive updates of your foster's journey.
• Applications Call references on adoption and volunteer applications
•  Events Set up and help at booths to educate and raise awareness for rescue and the dachshund breed
• Fundraising Join a committee to raise much needed funds for needy dachshunds
• Grant Writing Contact companies who are willing to offer grants to non-profit organizations
• Home Visits Visit the homes of prospective adopters and fosters
• Newsletter Sign up to receive our monthly newsletter or become a writer and designer!
• Owner Surrenders Gather information on the specific dog and situation
• Publicity Assist with fliers and with advertising for FDR
• Website Assist in many ways with Website and other Social Networking Avenues

FDR Volunteer Committees

We ask that every one of our members join a volunteer committee that best fits their personality, talents and schedules. We have a wide range of committees for you to choose from. Each one of you are so very important and we want to make your involvement and transition as easy as possible!

Committee Descriptions

***Furever Dachshund Rescue (FDR) always appreciates experienced dachshund owners and rescue volunteers but we need your commitment to our rescue.  If you currently are a member of another dachshund rescue, you will not be able to apply for membership for FDR (does not apply to a different breed rescue).  This is a conflict of interest and you will have to step down from any other same-breed rescues that you currently are a member of before you are approved for membership with FDR.     This also enables us to maintain relationships with other dachshund rescues as these relationships are important to accomplishing our mission. If you are currently a member of another same-breed rescue but would still like to help FDR, there are many non-member supporting roles that we need such as Volunteer transports, Following us on Facebook, Sponsoring a dachshund, Taking part in our donation raffles, bidding at our ebay store, helping out at events, etc.!
