Cara aka Krista

Krista was adopted by Mari in Surfside Beach, SC. Here is a note from her new mom! Blessings may come in small packages - 9 pound, 4 legged packages! After moving to South Carolina for a new job, I found a huge empty spot in my life when I had to leave my two half dachshunds in Ohio with my husband until he retires and joins me. Day to day life just wasn't the same without the companionship of a four legged family member. I felt led to look for a senior dog that needed a second chance and began the search. Fortunately I found Furever Dachshund Rescue online and there she was - Krista, a 9 year old, very small, very adorable girl with some health issues that I could totally see past. I fell in love with her before I ever "met" her. She jumped off the computer screen and into my heart and I couldn't wait to get my application approved so I could bring her home! I spent several weeks emailing Krista's foster mom, Amber, during the process and was so touched by the love she and Krista shared. Meeting her on our "adoption day" was like going to visit a long time friend and I can't express my appreciation to her enough for all she did for my little girl to give her a better life. I decided to re-name Krista - and picked "Carolina" as her new name, for the state where she got a new chance at life. I call her Cara for short. Since I don't know her actual birth date, I decided that her adoption day should now be her new birthday! Today was our 5th day as family and she's had quite a few great adventures in a short amount of time. She's been to the beach twice and LOVES it, went to a Dog Park, went to Sunrise Easter Service on the beach and has been to work with me three days. She loves seeing all the people who come to my office and soaks up all the love and attention she's received there. She's such a happy girl who has so much love to give. She smiles and dances and brightens my day from morning to night. I am SO thankful to all of the wonderful people associated with Furever Dachshund Rescue who helped give my girl a 2nd chance and gave me such a glorious little piece of sunshine to shine in my life each day. You're all amazing people with hidden angel wings!
