BIO:
Dollar is a very special little man with a huge personality! He is quite the lady’s man as well. We believe that he was the alpha of the group and that he is responsible for keeping the other dogs in line. Dollar is a very sweet dachshund that absolutely loves to snuggle his humans as well as his canine companions. The “Big Bed” is where he belongs when it’s bed time. Most days you’ll find him lounging on the sofa watching the activity around him.
Dollar is considered special needs because he went down in the back in May of this year. He made a full recovery but it took a little time to regain his full ability to walk normally. He is considered a dachshund with IVDD which means that he could possibly go down again sometime in the future. This is not always the case but a dachshund savvy home is where he needs to go.
Dollar will need access to ramps for getting onto furniture or going down steps to the yard. A single story home is ideal because he is very tempted to use the stairs if they are not properly gated off. The right home will also understand that keeping Dollar at an ideal weight is crucial so prevent further back problems. If you think that you might be the right dachshund savvy family for Dollar please apply. Thank you!

We encourage adopters from all over the Greater New England Area and will do our absolute best to accommodate you in arranging for transportation if you choose to adopt a dachshund from FDR. If your dachshund of choice is coming from a state other than the one you reside in, there will be an additional $60.00 Health Certificate Fee that is required by law. Thank you for supporting a dachshund in need.
If you would like additional information or have any questions, please feel free to contact the foster family directly. They will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
