BIO: (Updated 04.21.2012)
Puppy Cooper is a beautiful, long-haired, English cream, miniature dachshund. He was surrendered to our rescue in the hopes of finding the reason for his kidneys not working properly. After visits with veterinarians and kidney vet specialists we were unable to come to an exact conclusion as to why his kidneys are damaged. We do know that his damage is irreversible but that is does not require a specific kidney diet to maintain his level of kidney function. Though his prognosis is uncertain, his veterinarian feels there is a very slim chance of kidney failure. Subsequent kidney testing has shown improvement in his kidney values and the veterinarian does not feel that this is a life threatening problem. He lives the life of a normal dog, with normal activity along with the rest of his furry pack.
Watching Puppy Cooper play and romp around like a normal puppy is one of the most fun and rewarding experiences. He is extremely playful and needs to be in a home with another young and playful dog. He is not picky about the breed of dog and is an equal opportunity playmate. He has been social with Pitbulls, Dachshunds, Italian Greyhounds, and many others. He is happiest when he has a playmate and often will tug at his friend’s tail to rouse him. When Puppy Cooper gets excited he tends to nip at your heels and tug at your pant legs.
Puppy Cooper’s softer side comes out when its bed time and he crawls up next to you to sleep. He is a big snuggle bug and having a human bed to sleep in is mandatory! Puppy Cooper comes with his entire life of medical records and also his AKC paperwork. We have been told that he could quite possibly live a full and normal dachshund life but that there is a possibility in the future that his kidneys could fail him. His prognosis is uncertain but you would never know this by observing him.
