Thor is a wonderfully, silly, happy, goofy boy who loves his family so much! There is nothing about Thor that is unlikable; he thinks he's a lap dog so watch were you put your feet because he may just sit on them. Thor is looking for his furever family now because his daddy died and his mommy and kids had to move in with the parents. Unfortunately there is not enough room for him and the other family dogs so he was given to FDR to find a fabulous home. Upon arrival, Thor was very shy and a little skittish until he warmed up to me. He was sad for awhile as well because he missed his family a needed time to adjust to his foster family.
Thor's personality is such that he needs to be part of a family. He is strictly an indoor dog and is not meant to be left in a yard; he can get destructive if left outside alone. He is the definition of a couch potato and has taken residence on my sectional. Please be aware that he drools (that's the breed) and so keeping your sofa covered is the best way to keep it clean. You can train him to stay on the floor but you need to provide him with a large enough bed for him to get his entire body onto, think human size. He is a great watch dog and will bark if someone comes close to the house.
He needs to be able to go to go outside and get some fresh air and run around a bit. Thor would love a small dog companion, preferably 30lbs or less. He absolutely loves my little 10lb dachshund and they play very well together. Larger dogs intimidate him; especially large black black dogs so a home without larger dogs is required. He also eats about 8 cups of food a day which means he gets fed 3 times a day to prevent bloat, which this breed is particularly prone to.
Overall, Thor is an amazing companion and fantastic with small children and babies. He is very intelligent as well as extremely sensitive so shouting and loud noises scare him. He loves to go where you go and if he gets to ride in the car he will take up the entire back seat, lol! Please consider this goofy boy and give him a furever home.
We are requiring that Thor's furever home have the following:
~A completely fenced yard with at least a little room to run and play.
~A small companion dog to socialize with.
~A place in your home as an indoor dog that can socialize with family (kids are a plus!)
~An adopter with previous Mastiff experience (adopter must have owned an Mastiff)
~An adopter with current veterinarian records.
