Sometimes in rescue we have a sanctuary dog - a dog that can not be adopted out because of age or medical issues. When that happens, we make the remainder of their life as comfortable as possible and rain love down upon them.
It's our job to make sure they know how special and wonderful they truly are.

Annie's Story and Our Inspiration
Earlier, we reached out via Facebook to talk about Annie. Annie
was a 14 year old who was dumped at a shelter in April, 2012, in Charlotte, NC. She couldn't see or hear, had a grade 4 heart murmur and a fatty tumor. When FDR took her in, she had a sinus infection so bad that it took four rounds of antibiotics to clear it up. We are heartbroken to report that Annie crossed the Rainbow Bridge Monday, September 24, 2012. She went downhill quickly and left us with her foster mom by her side, whispering words of love and encouragement.
When we posted on Facebook, we had asked for donations towards an exercise pen that would allow Annie to wander without getting stuck or hurting herself. Due to some donations from very generous people - we not only have the funds for that exercise pen, but for other items as well. However, Annie is calling us to do something more with that that money.
We are pleased to be starting "Annie's Fund", a special fund for our senior and sanctuary dogs. These funds will be earmarked for medication, special food and other items that these little loves need and deserve. We know that so many of you share our love for senior dogs! Please see below for details on how to donate now and make a true difference for a beloved senior.
